Retraction, Withdrawal, Correction, Revision, and Removal (RWCRR) Policy

The Sriwijaya Journal of International Relations (SJIR) is dedicated to upholding the integrity and reliability of the scholarly record. To this end, SJIR has adopted the following policy concerning retraction, withdrawal, correction, revision, and removal of published content. This policy aligns with international publishing standards, particularly those outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Retraction

A retraction will be issued in cases where:

  • There is clear evidence that the findings are unreliable, either as a result of misconduct (e.g., data fabrication, plagiarism) or honest error (e.g., miscalculation, flawed experimental design).

  • The article was published as a result of an unethical peer review process.

  • There are significant ethical breaches such as multiple submissions, fake authorship, or undeclared conflicts of interest.

A retraction notice will be published in the journal’s next available issue, clearly stating the reasons for the retraction. The original article will remain accessible online but will be digitally watermarked as “Retracted.”

2. Withdrawal

Withdrawal of a manuscript is permitted only under special circumstances and must be requested by the corresponding author with a formal explanation. Valid reasons include:

  • The manuscript was submitted to SJIR by mistake and is also under consideration elsewhere.

  • Critical errors were identified by the author(s) prior to peer review.

If a withdrawal is requested after the manuscript has entered the peer review process or has been accepted, SJIR reserves the right to reject the withdrawal if it compromises editorial resources or ethical standards.

Authors are strictly discouraged from withdrawing manuscripts without a valid and ethical justification, especially after the review process has begun.

3. Correction and Revision

Corrections and revisions are made to:

  • Address minor errors that do not affect the overall findings of the paper (e.g., author name misspellings, figure labels).

  • Update information for clarity, transparency, or completeness (e.g., updated funding acknowledgments or citation references).

If corrections are deemed necessary, SJIR will publish a corrigendum or erratum linked to the original article.

Substantial revisions, especially those affecting data interpretation or conclusions, will be subject to editorial evaluation and may result in article replacement or a formal editorial notice.

4. Removal

Article removal will be considered under extraordinary circumstances, such as:

  • The content is defamatory or infringes legal rights.

  • There is a court order or legal obligation requiring removal.

  • The article contains serious errors that may pose a risk to public health or national security.

In such cases, the article will be replaced by a takedown notice explaining the reason for removal.

SJIR takes all aspects of academic publishing ethics seriously and encourages all stakeholders—authors, reviewers, and readers—to contact the editorial office if they identify concerns related to the published content. Our goal is to ensure scholarly integrity while respecting due process and transparency.
