Publication Ethics

Sriwijaya Journal of International Relations (SJIR) is firmly committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. We follow the core practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and expect all parties involved in the publication process—including authors, reviewers, editors, and the publisher—to adhere to ethical responsibilities throughout all stages of manuscript handling.

Duties of Authors

  • Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that their manuscript is original, has not been previously published, and is not under review elsewhere. All forms of plagiarism, including self-plagiarism and unauthorized reproduction, are strictly prohibited. The journal uses plagiarism detection tools to screen submissions.

  • Reporting Standards
Authors are expected to present accurate, clear, and objective accounts of their research. Falsification, fabrication, or misrepresentation of data constitutes unethical behavior.

  • Acknowledgment of Sources
Proper acknowledgment of all sources, including funding agencies and individuals who contributed substantially to the research, must be provided.

  • Authorship
Authorship should be limited to individuals who made a significant contribution to the conceptualization, design, execution, or interpretation of the study. All listed authors must approve the final version and agree to its submission.

  • Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence the work or interpretation of the data.

Duties of Editors

  • Editorial Decision
The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for deciding which articles to publish, based on quality, originality, significance, and relevance to the journal’s scope.

  • Fair Review Process
Editors must ensure that every manuscript is evaluated for its academic content without regard to the authors’ race, gender, institutional affiliation, or political beliefs.

  • Confidentiality
Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, and the publisher.

  • Handling Misconduct
Editors will take appropriate action when ethical issues are raised regarding a submitted or published manuscript, in accordance with COPE guidelines.

Duties of Reviewers

  • Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer review is a critical step in the editorial process. Reviewers are expected to offer constructive feedback and assist the editor in making editorial decisions.

  • Objectivity and Constructive Criticism
Reviews should be conducted objectively and respectfully. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate.

  • Confidentiality
Reviewers must treat submitted manuscripts as confidential documents. They should not be shared or discussed with others unless authorized by the editor.

  • Disclosure and Conflict of Interest
Reviewers must disclose any potential conflict of interest and decline the review if a conflict exists.
