Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The manuscript is typed using Microsoft Word on A4-sized paper, with around 4000-7000 words (excluding citations) in Times New Roman font size 12 points and 1.5 spaces between lines.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • To ensure the integrity of the double blind peer-review for submission to the journal, every effort should be made to prevent the identities of the authors and reviewers from being known to each other.

Author Guidelines

Every author who intends to submit and publish articles in Sriwijaya Journal of International Relations (SJIR) is strongly advised to read this author guideline. SJIR will reject all submissions that do not adhere to the author guidelines.

  1. Every manuscript submitted to SJIR should have never been published in any other publication.
  2. The manuscript is typed using Microsoft Word on A4-sized paper, with around 4000-7000 words (excluding citations) in Times New Roman font size 12 points and 1.5 spaces between lines.
  3. Title: The title should contain no more than 14 words and be clear, short, and informative. 
  4. Author’s Identity: The author's name is written without any academic degree, followed by the institution, city, and nation where the author is affiliated. In the case of a manuscript authored by a team, the editor solely communicates with the primary author or first-named author. The primary author must give his or her mailing or email address.
  5. Abstract: The abstract is written in English with no more than 200 words. The abstract should summarize the content of paper consisting of background and research problems, objectives, theoretical frameworks, methods, and results. The abstract should be clear and concise.
  6. Introduction: The introduction contains the background, research problem, and arguments to be proven in the study. The literature review can be included in this section.
  7. Theoretical Framework: The theoretical framework includes an explanation of the theory or concept used as well as its relevance to the analysis of research problems.
  8. Research Methods: The research methods should elaborate on the methods employed to address the issues as well as the analysis technique. It should offer sufficient information for the reader to assess the appropriateness of procedures and the validity and reliability of the findings.
  9. Results and Discussion: The author must elaborate on the results of the research in this chapter. Data should be provided as concisely as possible and if necessary, tables or numbers must be used. The results of the study must be able to answer or explain the questions/objectives set in the introduction. Furthermore, the data obtained must be interpreted with the theory and support of previous research.
  10. Conclusion: The conclusion is the findings of the study in the conceptual abstraction. Summaries and suggestions must be included in this section. Conclusions should describe the answers to the research question and/or study objectives or the results achieved. Moreover, theoretical and practical implications can also be written in this section (if any).
  11. Acknowledgment: This section contains a thank you which allows the author to thank all those who have helped in researching including research funders.
  12. References: All references cited in the article must be written in the bibliography. We advise authors to use 80% of primary sources such as accredited or indexed scientific journals published in the last 5-10 years and the rest are theses, books, and other related publications. References are written according to APA6th style. Moreover, we also recommend that authors use reference management applications such as Mendeley, EndNote, and Zotero. Here is an example of using APA6th:

  1. Tables and figures must have titles and have clear number and sources, and be typed in single space.
  2. All articles are evaluated anonymously by reviewers selected by the editor based on their area of expertise. The author is given the opportunity to modify the manuscript based on the reviewer's or editor's advice/suggestions. The decision of publishing or rejection will be communicated through email to the author.
  3. Everything linked to citing authorization or using computer software in composing the work, as well as any other copyright-related actions taken by the author, becomes his or her own responsibility, along with all legal implications.
